Setting up a darts room: the perfect home setup for Autodarts

A well-appointed dart corner makes all the difference — especially if you want to automatically score with Autodarts. In this article, we provide practical tips for the ideal home setup.

1. The right distance and height

The official playing distance for steel tip darts is 237 cm from the front of the board to the oche (throw line). The center of the dartboard should be hung at a height of 173 cm.

2. Lighting

Good lighting is essential — for yourself and for the Autodarts cameras. An LED ring provides uniform illumination around the board, which greatly improves dart recognition. The complete Autodarts package includes a powerful LED strip as standard.

3. Background and floor

Ensure a calm background behind the board. A dark, plain wall works best for the cameras. Also, lay a dart mat or wooden floor in front of the board — this protects your floor and marks the oche.

4. PC or laptop setup

Autodarts requires a USB connection to a PC or laptop. Don't want a laptop in your dart room? Consider a mini PC — compact, quiet, and specially configured for Autodarts.

5. Screen placement

A screen next to or below the dartboard allows you to see the score without moving your position. A 15.6-inch touchscreen monitor is ideal: compact enough for any space and easy to operate.

6. Cable management

Use cable trays or mounting clips to neatly route the USB cables along the wall. This makes your dart corner look tidy and prevents tripping hazards.
